Needed:
4 cups flour
1 cup vegetable shortening
3/4 Teaspoon Salt
6-12 Tbsp. cold water
Filling:
1 lb. round steak (cubed)or vegetables
1 lg. onion
1/2 cup of chopped parsley
1/2 cup kidney suet (chopped)
10 medium potatoes (cubed)
salt and pepper
(2 turnips if desired)
Directions:
- Sift together flour and salt. Cut in Shortening.
- Add 1 tablespoon of water until dough is easy to handle (not too sticky).
- Divide dough up into how many servings you need.
- Roll each one on floured board, to about 1/8 thick, in round circle.
- Add the filling
- Add about 1 1/2 cups of meat mixture to half of the circle, then fold the other half over and crimp the edges together, seal edges with milk.
- Put on a greased cookie sheet, and place in the oven at 425 degrees for about 10 minutes. Then turn the oven temperature to 325 degrees for about an hour, or until golden brown.
