Cowboy Poetry and Other Tall Tales-An Evening with Dan Macon of Flying Mule Farm and Jim Gates of Nevada County Free Range Beef
Founded in 2001, the entire Macon family operates Flying Mule Farm where they produce summer and fall vegetables, grass-fed lamb, pastured poultry and eggs, firewood and custom milled lumber. Using modern mule-powered equipment and other ecologically sustainable methods they produce the highest quality food and wood products for our community. They also provide habitat restoration and land management services. Jim Gates operates Nevada County Free Range Beef and takes great care in raising 100% grass-fed, grass-finished, free range beef without the use of hormones or antibiotics. Jim’s cows spend their days grazing over hundreds of acres of open spaces, and are allowed to mature at their natural rate. Join Nevada County Land Trust, Dan Macon and Jim Gates as they spin a few yarns, tell some tall tales and share stories of what it is like to be an old fashioned cowboy in a modern day world. You will be touched by Dan’s poetry and stories and will laugh and Jim’s tall tales.
