Grower's Markets
There are 5 different Farmer's Markets in Nevada County this year.


Saturday Mornings

The Nevada City Farmers Market features more than 10 local farms, two stages of local music, artisans, children's activities, and educational demonstrations as well as prepared breakfast and lunch vendors. The Market is every Saturday morning through October on Union Street between Broad and Commercial. 8 AM - 12PM. 530-432-8734.


Tuesdays 3pm-6pm

The Nevada City Certified Growers Market is held from 3-6 p.m. each Tuesday at the Sierra Presbyterian Church, 175 Ridge Road.


Saturdays 7:30pm

Is NC Really a Ghost Town?
You can learn all about Nevada City’s ghosts from tour guide Mark Lyon, who leads Nevada City Ghost Tours on Saturday evenings through October. The walking tours depart from 101 Boulder Street (the corner of Broad, Boulder and Nevada streets) at 7:30 p.m. The adventure is $10 for adults and $5 for young people 12 and under. Ages 5 and under are free. Call 265-6877.

Celtic Festival. The festival hosts 5 music stages and 6 more performance venues. Bring an instrument to numerous jam sessions and music workshops, dance in the pavilion, research your ancestry or join over 200 volunteers that make it all possible. Fairgrounds.

Celtic culture including music, jams, dance, pageantry, living history, falconry, athle tics, storytelling, bagpipers, actors, jugglers, and shopping. Nine stages and performance areas. Mainstage hosts The Elders, Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas, Niamh Parsons and Graham Dunne. Musicians bring your instruments and join jam sessions and workshops. Guilds will recreate points and places in time. Amateur and professional athletes test their strength and skill in Scottish Games. Camping available. $10 - $45. Forest Monitoring Tours. The tours will include an overview of a variety of planned and accomplished forest treatments ranging from thinning, group selection, fuels reduction and establishing defensible space (using method such as tree removal or harvest, mastication [shred and scatter], prescribed burning) to watershed restoration and special meadow, aspen and oak habitat enhancement. 9am: Almanor Ranger District, Lassen National Forest – Grays Peak DFPZ; Please call the Monitoring Field Tour Coordinator for more information. In an encore performance, Mark Growden will perform with his trio, Chris Grady (Tom Waits and Beth Custer) on trumpet and cornet, and Seth Ford-Young (Tom Waits and Sean Hayes) on upright bass. The Alburquerque Alibi wrote that Growden, “has to be one California’s most colorful and intriguing musicians.” The East Bay Express said, “Torrid lyricism and fierce accordion rascality. Mad As Hell Doctors is a panel of doctors who share their observations about the problems and possible solutions to the current health care system, ignored by the current federal reform bill. This event invites audience participation. Held at the historic Nevada Theatre, the event includes local musicians, a short video, and refreshments supplied by our local Summerthyme's Bakery. A harvest festival on the San Juan Ridge, the Autumn Shindig is a favorite for everyone who comes. It i s a fun and entertaining family event with games, music, juggling, magic tricks, cotton candy, ice cream, tamales, hot dogs, face painting, cool vendors, sack races, tug-of-war and much, much more.
